Shutterstock

The Shutterstock integration provides access to an enormous library of images. When you identify an image to use, you import it into Brightspot and then add it to assets such as articles and galleries.

This section describes how to configure the integration in Brightspot, make the corresponding settings in your Shutterstock console, and how to perform an integrated search.

The integration requires a Shutterstock account. See shutterstock.com.

Including Shutterstock in a build

The following table lists the dependencies to include in your build configuration.

ArtifactDescription
com.psddev:shutterstockExposes the external type ShutterstockImage and fields in Edit Site to configure and run integrated search with Shutterstock.

Runtime prerequisites

  • Developer configuration—Extend ExternalItemConverter to import the ShutterstockImage as a Brightspot Image.
  • Ops configuration—Configure a callback URL and referrer in Shutterstock. For details, see Applications.
  • CMS configuration—Configure the site interfacing with Shutterstock. For details, see Configuration.

Configuration

You can configure integrated searches with Shutterstock at the Global level or the site level. Global configurations are inherited by all sites, and site-level configurations override Global configurations. This topic explains how to configure integrated searches at the Global level.

To configure integrated searches with Shutterstock:

  1. In your Shutterstock console, obtain your consumer key and consumer secret. For details, see Basic Authentication.
  2. Click > Admin > Sites & Settings > Sites > Global.
  3. From the Integrations tab, expand the Shutterstock cluster.
  4. From the Shutterstock API Client list, click Create New.
  5. In the Name field, enter a name for the integration.
  6. In the Consumer Key and Consumer Secret fields, paste the values from step 1.
  7. Click Save.
  8. Click Back.
  9. From the Shutterstock API Client list, select the integration you created.
  10. Click Save.

Importing a Shutterstock image

Use the following procedure to search for and use an image from Shutterstock.

To search for and use a Shutterstock image:

  1. Open the search panel.

  2. Set the content types filter to Shutterstock Image.

  3. If this is the first time you are searching for images in Shutterstock, do the following:

    1. Under Shutterstock Authentication, click Click here to authenticate Shutterstock. A Shutterstock login page appears.
    2. Log in to Shutterstock as you normally do.
    3. In the Application is asking for permission widget, click Allow.
    4. Back in the search panel, click and filter again for Shutterstock Image.
  4. Add other filters or search text. For additional information, see Search filters. Brightspot lists any matching images.

  5. Click the image.

  6. In the content edit form, click Import.

Brightspot imports the image and displays it in a content edit form. You can modify the title, caption, or other metadata, and then use the image in an asset.

For additional information about importing external assets, see Syncing with external images.
