Pardot
Salesforce Pardot (now marketed as Salesforce Marketing Cloud Account Engagement) is a marketing automation platform. The Brightspot–Pardot integration pulls Pardot forms directly into Brightspot, embeds them in assets, and makes them available for publishing to the site.
Once the integration is active, users can select any imported Pardot form when building a third-party form asset. Brightspot syncs the form structure from Pardot so that label overrides and field adjustments can be made inside the CMS before publishing.
Prerequisites
Before configuring the Pardot integration, confirm you have the following:
- A Pardot account with at least one active business unit.
- A connected Salesforce OAuth app that provides a Client ID and Client Secret for the Pardot API.
- The Business Unit ID for the Pardot account you want to connect. See Find my Account Engagement Business Unit ID in the Salesforce documentation.
- Admin access to Brightspot's Global settings.
Setup overview
To configure and use the Pardot integration, complete these steps in order:
- Connect a Pardot account to Brightspot at the global level. For details, see Adding a Pardot account.
- Enable and configure the integration. For details, see Configuration.
- Create a third-party form asset that references an imported Pardot form. For details, see Creating a third-party form.
- Add the third-party form to an asset and publish. For details, see Incorporating a third-party form into an asset.
Adding a Pardot account
A Pardot account record stores the OAuth credentials Brightspot uses to authenticate with the Pardot API and import your forms. You can add multiple accounts if your organization manages more than one Pardot business unit.
To add a Pardot account:
- Click > Admin > Sites & Settings > Sites > Global.
- From the Integrations tab, expand the Pardot cluster.
- Toggle on Enable Import.
- Under the Accounts field, click Add Item, then select Create New.
- Complete the fields using the table below as a reference.
- Click Save.
The account record is saved. If the credentials are valid, Brightspot immediately attempts to authenticate with the Pardot API. If authentication fails, the Last Error Message field on the account record displays the error returned by Pardot.
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Name | An internal label for this account record. Brightspot displays this name in the search panel and the recent activity widget. It is not visible to site visitors. |
| Client ID | The OAuth client ID from your Salesforce connected app. In Salesforce Setup, go to App Manager, find your connected app, click View, then click Manage Consumer Details to reveal the Consumer Key. |
| Client Secret | The OAuth client secret from your Salesforce connected app. The Consumer Secret is displayed on the same Manage Consumer Details screen as the Consumer Key. |
| Business Unit ID | The unique identifier for your Pardot business unit. See Find my Account Engagement Business Unit ID in the Salesforce documentation. |
| Last Error Message | Read-only. Displays the most recent API error returned by Pardot. Use this field to diagnose authentication or import failures. |
Troubleshooting account errors
If the Last Error Message field is populated after saving, check the following:
- Confirm the Client ID and Client Secret match the connected app in Salesforce exactly, including any trailing spaces.
- Confirm the connected app's OAuth scopes include the required Pardot API access. In Salesforce, check the connected app's Selected OAuth Scopes list and confirm it includes a Pardot or Marketing Cloud Account Engagement scope.
- Confirm the Business Unit ID matches the Pardot business unit you intend to connect.
- If your Salesforce org enforces IP restrictions, confirm that the configuration allows requests from the Brightspot server.
After correcting any values, click Save again to retry authentication.
Configuration
After you add at least one Pardot account, enable the integration so that users can access imported forms when creating third-party form assets.
To configure the Pardot integration:
- Click > Admin > Sites & Settings > Sites > Global.
- From the Integrations tab, expand the Pardot cluster.
- Toggle on Enabled.
- Expand the Accounts list and select the account you want to activate.
- Click Save.
The Pardot integration is now active. Users can select imported Pardot forms when creating a third-party form asset.
Next steps
With the integration configured, the next step is to create a third-party form asset that references one of your imported Pardot forms and then embed that form in a page asset. See Forms for full instructions.
