You can link a Facebook account to Brightspot so that when you paste a Facebook or Instagram URL into the rich-text editor, it renders as an embedded link on your site with more attractive styling.
The following table lists the dependencies required to include the Facebook integration in your build.
| Dependency | Group ID | Artifact ID |
|---|---|---|
| Facebook: Core | com.psddev | facebook |
Configuring the Facebook integration
In order for Brightspot to automatically embed a Facebook or Instagram link in the rich-text editor, you must first configure the Facebook integration.
To configure the Facebook integration:
- In your Meta console, copy your app access token and app ID. For details, see Access Tokens for Meta Technologies.
- Click > Admin > Sites & Settings > Sites > Global.
- Under Integrations, expand Facebook.
- (Optional) In the Facebook App Access Token field, enter your Facebook app ID and access token. You must format this value as
AppID|Access Token.
In previous versions, Facebook App Access Token was necessary to enable Instagram embeds; however, Brightspot has since updated embed handling to automatically support embed styling when a user pastes an embed link into the rich-text editor.
- In the App ID field, enter your Facebook app ID. This field is only necessary for Facebook oEmbeds, head scripts, and share actions.
- Click Save.
- In the Sites list, select the site into which you want to embed Facebook links.
- Under Integrations, expand Facebook.
- In the App ID field, enter your Facebook app ID.
- Click Save.
Once complete, Brightspot embeds any Facebook or Instagram links pasted into the rich-text editor as HTML or iframe modules.
