Brightcove

Brightspot's Brightcove integration lets you search and import videos from a Brightcove Video Cloud account into federated search, and can incrementally import new and updated videos on a schedule.

Configuring the integration

Brightcove accounts are configured per site, and a site can have more than one account.

To configure a Brightcove account:

  1. From the left navigation, under Admin, click Sites & Settings.
  2. From the Integrations tab, expand the Brightcove cluster.
  3. Under Settings, add an account, and complete the following fields:
    1. In the Internal Name field, type a name to identify this account in selection fields.
    2. In the Account Id field, type the Brightcove account ID.
    3. In the Client Id field, type the OAuth client ID from your Brightcove account.
    4. In the Client Secret field, type the OAuth client secret from your Brightcove account.
    5. (Optional) In the Player Id field, type the ID of the Brightcove player to use for preview. If left blank, Brightspot uses the account's default player.
  4. Click Save.

Configuring scheduled import

Under Import, an account can enable a scheduled task that ingests new and updated Brightcove videos automatically instead of relying on an editor to search for and import them.

To configure scheduled import for a Brightcove account:

  1. Open the Brightcove account, and under Import, in the Task Host Name field, type the hostname of the instance that should run the import task. If left blank, scheduled import never runs for this account.
  2. Toggle on the Import Enabled setting.
  3. (Optional) Toggle on the Full Import Enabled setting to re-ingest every video on each run instead of only videos modified since the last run.
  4. Click Save.
note

A Global Import Frequency setting, under the Global site's Integrations tab in the Brightcove cluster, controls how often the import task runs (in minutes) across all accounts.

Importing a video

This module doesn't ship a content type for imported videos. Which content type an import converts to—and whether re-importing to refresh a video's metadata is available—depends entirely on what your project has implemented.

To import a video from Brightcove:

  1. In the header, click the search field to open the search panel.
  2. Under Global Filters, from the content-type filter, select Brightcove Video.
  3. Perform an integrated search. For details, see Performing integrated searches in Brightspot.
  4. Click the video you want to import.
  5. Click Import.
  6. Complete your site's workflow and publish the asset.

For details on building the converter, or a re-import action for keeping a video's metadata current after the initial import, see Extending the plugin.
