Slack

Brightspot's Slack integration lets you search and import files from a linked Slack workspace into federated search.

Configuring the integration

To configure a Slack workspace:

  1. From the left navigation, under Admin, click Sites & Settings, then select the Global site.
  2. From the Integrations tab, expand the Slack cluster.
  3. Under Workspaces, add a workspace, and complete the following fields:
    1. In the Workspace Name field, type a name to identify this workspace.
    2. In the Client Id field, type the client ID from your Slack app.
    3. In the Client Secret field, type the client secret from your Slack app.
  4. Click Save.
note

Brightspot displays the redirect URL to add in the Slack API Console next to the Client Id field. The Token and Signing Secret fields configure Slack notifications, a separate feature—leave them blank if you only want Slack search.

Linking your account

Slack imports files on behalf of the signed-in editor rather than a shared service account. If you have not linked a Slack workspace, the search results panel shows a Sign in with Slack button instead of a search field.

To link your Slack account:

  1. Open the search panel for Slack.
  2. Click Sign in with Slack, or, to add an additional workspace, click Link Another Account.
  3. Sign in to Slack and approve the requested permissions.

After you approve access, Brightspot returns you to the search panel and Slack is ready to search.

note

If no workspace has been configured yet, the search panel shows a message to contact an administrator instead of the sign-in button.
