Attachment File
This topic explains how to add an attachment file to Brightspot. Attachment files are any file that visitors open in an external app. Examples of attachment files include financial reports (.pdf format), data sets (.csv format), and compressed files (.zip format).

- Before beginning these steps, make sure you save the attachment on the drive you are working from, or obtain its URL from the internet.
- Brightspot provides content types that are specific to office productivity applications. For more information, see Document, Spreadsheet, and Presentation.
Creating Attachment Files
To add an attachment File:
- In the header, click .
- From the Create list, select Attachment File.
- Using the following table as a reference, complete the fields as needed.
- Complete your site's workflow and publish the attachment file.
After you publish your attachment file, you can use it in assets such as pages and sections. You can also add attachment files to text you compose in the rich-text editor.

| Title | Enter a title for this asset. This title is visible to the visitors to your site. |
| Internal Name | In the Internal Name field, enter an internal name. Brightspot uses this name in selection fields. |
| Description | Enter a description that describes this asset. This description is visible to the visitors to your site. |
| Date Uploaded | Date indicating when you uploaded this asset's file. |
Asset Access Management

| Expiration Date | Set the date and time when this asset expires. |
| Discoverable After Expiration | Toggle on to allow users to still access this asset after expiration. |
| Downloadable After Expiration | Toggle on to allow users to still download this asset after expiration. |
| License Type | Select an existing license type for this asset, or create a new one. |
Promo Overrides
| Field | Description |
| Promo Title | Enter text to override this asset's title when used in a promo. Brightspot automatically populates this field from data on the Main tab, and you can override this as needed by entering a new title. |
| Promo Description | Enter text to override this asset's description when used in a promo. Brightspot automatically populates this field from data on the Main tab, and you can override this as needed by entering a new description. |
| Promo Image | Image appearing in the asset's image when the asset is used as a promo. Brightspot automatically populates this field from data on the Main tab, and you can override this as needed by selecting a new image. |

| Locale | Sets the content's locale. This setting can also be used to auto-localize content based on the users requested locale. |
Attachment embeds
You can embed an attachment into the rich-text editor. The attachment can be downloaded directly from the asset on the site.
To embed an attachment:
- From the rich-text editor's toolbar, select > Attachment.
- Using the following table as a reference, complete the fields as needed.
- Click Save & Close.

| Item | Select Internal to search for an attachment. Select External to enter a URL. |
| Title | Enter a title. |
| Description | Describe the attachment. |
| Image | Search for or create an image to pair with this attachment. |
| File Size | Enter the attachment's file size. |
| File Type Display Name | Enter the name of the type of file you are using as the attachment (for example, .zip). The text you input here is added to the call to action button. |
| Call To Action Button Text | Enter the prompt to click the call to action button. This value is Download by default. This text is accompanied by the text you input into the File Type Display Name field. For example, if you retain Download in this field and have entered .zip in the File Type Display Name field, then the call to action button will read as Download .zip. |
