Downloading assets
Editors can download assets from the content edit page or from search results. If an asset type supports more than one output format, Brightspot lets you choose the format before the download starts.
Only asset types that a developer has made downloadable appear in the download options. If the download action does not appear for an asset, contact your administrator.
Download a single asset
To download an asset:
- Open the asset's edit page.
- Next to Publish (or the workflow button, if the asset type has a workflow), click > Download This asset type.
- In the Download Options window, select a format for each group of assets, and click Download.
Brightspot opens the Downloads page and processes the download in the background.
Download multiple assets from search results
To download multiple assets:
- In search, select the checkbox for each asset to download.
- In the search actions, click > Download.
- In the Download Options window, select a format for each asset type, and click Download.
Brightspot groups the assets by type, so you can choose a different format for each type. A group is skipped when you do not select a format for it.
Brightspot packages a download of more than one file as a .zip file. A download of one file is not compressed.
View and manage downloads
To view your downloads:
- In the profile menu, click Downloads.
- Review the progress of each download.
- When a download is complete, click Download Again to retrieve the file.
If a download fails, Brightspot displays "Download Error! Please try again." Delete the entry and start the download again.
Extracted text and thumbnails
For asset types that support document data extraction, Brightspot extracts text and a thumbnail from the uploaded file after you save the asset. The Extracted Data cluster on the asset's edit page shows the results in read-only Text and Thumbnail fields. The thumbnail also represents the asset in the CMS.
Extraction runs in the background. Until it finishes, the fields display "DAM asset still processing..." If extraction finishes without a result, the fields display "No text found." or "No thumbnail found."
Brightspot extracts data again whenever you replace the file on an existing asset.
When the extracted text is available, Brightspot includes the asset in search results for keywords that appear in that text.
