Mocking data

Mocking data is an important tool in Brightspot development. Mock data provides your application with simulated real-life data (such as names, dates, text, and images) so you can evaluate your templates' layout and styling.

Styleguide's data files come with helpers that generate random mock data, saving you the time of creating your own and the need to connect to a backend to inject (possibly proprietary) data into the template. The randomization also tests your templates' robustness, allowing for evaluations with longer and shorter text strings and larger or smaller images.

Styleguide's data files also contribute to creating Java interfaces with method names based on the data file's keys. For details about this process, see How the view generator creates view classes.
