YouTube Video

The YouTube plugins enable federated searches of YouTube videos directly from the Brightspot search panel. External content retrieved from a third-party repository can optionally be imported into Brightspot and used as any other asset. See Federated search and import for more information.

There are two YouTube plugins:

  • Feature—This plugin provides federated searches of YouTube videos. These resources are retrieved as read-only and are not imported into Brightspot.

  • Content—Imports YouTube videos resources into Brightspot so you can add or change metadata.

The YouTube plugins require the following:

  • Google enterprise account, allowing for any editor to retrieve YouTube videos.

  • API Key to access the YouTube Data API. See the YouTube Data API Overview.

  • Optionally, a Channel ID if you want to restrict video retrievals by subject matter, such as your corporate communications channel. To obtain a channel ID, sign into your YouTube account and look up the channel ID in your advanced settings. If necessary, create a new channel.
