Support and Documentation

Administrators perform this task.

Sites with user accounts traditionally contain links for logging in, logging out, registering, and managing profile settings.

This section describes an example of placing two user links (one for profile settings, one for logging in) in the site's header.

Procedure. To add navigation links for user accounts:
  1. As described in Profile pages, prepare a private profile page containing a form for the user's settings.

  2. From the Navigation Menu, select Sites & Settings.

  3. In the Sites widget, select the site to which you want to add user links. If you select the Global site, all sites include the links in their headers. The Edit Site or Edit Global widget appears.

  4. Under Page Defaults, expand Header.

  5. Under Navigation, select Select. A selection field appears.

  6. Click |mi-search|. The content picker appears.

  7. Under Create, click New Page Navigation. A content edit form appears for creating a new navigation item.

  8. In the Name field, enter a descriptive name for this navigation item.

  9. Create a link to the user's profile page by doing the following:

    1. Under Items, click |mi-add_circle_outline| and select Simple Navigation Item. A form appears.

    2. In the Text field, type the link's text. Users see this text in the site's header.

    3. From the Link field, select Internal. A form appears.

    4. In the Item field, click |mi-search|. The content picker appears.

    5. Click the page you created in step 1 that contains the profile form, and close the content picker. You return to the New Page Navigation content edit form.

  10. Add a link for logging in and logging out: under Items, click |mi-add_circle_outline| and select Authentication Navigation Item. A confirmation message appears.

  11. Click Publish.

  12. Click Back to Select Navigation → Navigation. You return to the content picker.

  13. Click the navigation item you just created. You return to the Edit Site or Edit Global widget.

  14. Click Save.

The two links, one to a user's profile page and another for logging in/out, are in the site's header. View any published page to see the links.
