Creating content variations

You can deliver different variations of an item to different audiences.

Referring to the previous illustration, there is a default variation of an article ("Stock market mixed today") and two variations, one for optimists and one for pessimists.

  • The optimistic audience includes any visitor who is viewing an article on the site optimists.com. This audience sees the headline "Stock market rallied until 1:00 PM."

  • The pessimistic audience includes any visitor who is viewing an article on the site pessimists.com. This audience sees the headline "Stock market crashed after 1:00 PM."

  • All other visitors are not included in an audience, and they see the headline "Stock market mixed today."

The following procedure describes how to create variations of items for different audiences.

Editors perform this task.

Procedure. To create content variations:
  1. Create a new item or open an existing one. Ensure the item is one of the content types you used when creating a segmented audience as described in Configuring audiences. This is the default variation, and Brightspot delivers this variation to all visitors who do not satisfy any of the segmentation criteria.

  2. From the audience list, select an audience for which you want to create a content variation.
