Configuring Brightspot analytics

Administrators perform this task.

This section describes how to configure Brightspot to provide page view counts. If your version of Brightspot is missing any of the following configuration options, contact your Brightspot representative.

Procedure. To configure item-level analytics:
  1. From the Navigation Menu, select Sites & Settings.

  2. In the Sites widget, click Global. The Edit Global widget appears.

  3. Under Main, expand Analytics.

  4. Using the following table as a reference, configure the plugin. Some of the settings at the global level can be overridden at the site level.

  5. Click Save.

Field

Description

Task Host

Name or address of host running the task that updates the page views.

Page Views Supplier

Source provider of page view data.

  • None—Page view data is not accumulated.

  • Brightspot Analytics—Source of page views is the Brightspot server. The Brightspot server provides some analytics not available from Google, such as traffic counts from a variety of search engines and social networks.

  • Google Analytics—Source of page views is Google Analytics. For information about integrating Google Analytics with Brightspot, see Integrating Google Analytics.

Report Task Schedule

Cron expression that specifies the time interval for the Google Analytics background task to run. Must be set for the task to run. For example, 0 0 0/1 1/1 * ? * runs the task every hour on every day. For information about building cron expressions, see Cron Maker. Available only if Page Views is set to Google Analytics.

Interval

Unit of time used to calculate the number of page views appearing in the search panel and in dynamic lists. See Including page views in the search panel and Sorting dynamic lists by page views. Available only if Page Views is set to Brightspot Analytics or Google Analytics.

Amount

Number of intervals. For example, if you set Interval to Days and Amount to 2, then the Page Views field in the search panel and dynamic lists reflect the number of page views over the past two days. Available only if Page Views is set to Brightspot Analytics or Google Analytics.

Disable Scripts

If on, disables the JavaScript that collects page view data. The data remains uncollected until you turn this toggle off.

Search Sources

Search engines from which traffic arrives to the item. If blank, Brightspot tracks incoming traffic referred by Google, Bing, and Yahoo. You can override this setting at the site level.

Social Sources

Social networks from which traffic arrives to the item. If blank, Brightspot tracks incoming traffic referred by Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, and YouTube. You can override this setting at the site level.

Video Analytics Supplier

Source provider of video view data.

  • None—Video view data not accumulated.

  • Brightspot Analytics—Source of video views is the Brightspot server.
