YouTube is the world's most popular hosting service for videos, along with competitors such as Vimeo, Wistia, and Vidyard. Using Brightspot, you can create your own video hosting service. Here is the menu for setting a video hosting service whose pages have the following structure:

Step 1: Create the new site

Follow the directions in Creating a new site.

Step 2: Set up ad service

In this step you specify the sizes of the ad to appear in your video pages.

  1. From the Navigation Menu, select Sites & Settings.

  2. In the Sites widget, click the site you created in Step 1. The Edit Site widget appears.

  3. Under Front-End, expand Ads.

  4. Under Ad Sizes, click |mi-add_circle_outline|. A form appears.

  5. In the Width field enter 800, and in the Height field enter 200. Your form looks similar to the following:

  6. Click Save.

  7. Continuing under Ads, under Ad Modules, click |mi-add_circle_outline|, and select the ad service. A form appears.

  8. Fill out the form for the ad service using the ad size from step 5. Your form looks similar to the following:

  9. Click Save.

Step 3: Set up page layout

Your video hosting site is set up!

Step 4: Add content

Now you start the really hard work of recording your videos and the easy work of using Brightspot to publish them.

  1. In the header, click in the search field. The search panel appears.

  2. Under Create, select Video, and then click New. The content edit page appears.

  3. Under Provider, select HTML5.

  4. Click |mi-add_circle_outline|. The Video File form appears.

  5. In the form, do the following:

    1. In the File field, select New Upload and click Choose.

    2. Navigate to and select the video you want to upload.

    3. In the Width, Height, and Duration fields, enter values as appropriate. If you leave the fields blank, Brightspot determines the values from the uploaded video.

  6. In the remaining fields, enter or select values as appropriate for your uploaded video. Your content edit form looks similar to the following:

  7. In the editorial toolbar, click Publish.

Wait a few minutes for your page to go live on the host, and view it at the permalink!
