Scheduling a single item

You can schedule an item for publication at a future date. You can later change the scheduled date, or schedule multiple publication dates for different versions of the item. You can also remove the scheduled date and publish the item immediately.

Creating a schedule
Procedure. To schedule an item for future publication:
  1. Search for and open the item in the content edit page.

  2. In the editorial toolbar, click |mi-calendar_today|. A calendar appears.

  3. Set the date and time at which you want the item to go live.

  4. Click Set. The scheduled time appears with the Schedule button in the editorial toolbar.

  5. Click Schedule.

The scheduled item is added to the Revisions widget.

Updating an existing schedule

You can change an item's scheduled publish date.

Procedure. To update a scheduled publication date:
  1. Search for and open the item in the content edit page. The item's current schedule date is reflected in the editorial toolbar (see the illustration Editorial toolbar with scheduling tools).

  2. Click |mi-calendar_today|. A calendar appears.

  3. Select the new date and time, then click Set.

  4. Click Schedule.

The item's new schedule date is reflected in the editorial toolbar.

Publishing an item with multiple schedules

You can schedule multiple versions to be published at different dates. For example, you might have an abbreviated version of a story that appears in a weekday edition, and a full-length version of the same story in a weekend edition.

Procedure. To publish an item with multiple schedules:
  1. Create or open the item in the content edit page.

  2. Add a schedule to the item by doing the following:

    1. In the editorial toolbar, click |mi-calendar_today|. A calendar appears.

    2. Select a date and time, then click Set.

    3. Click Schedule.

    Brightspot adds the scheduled version to the Scheduled section in the Revisions widget.

  3. In the Revisions widget, under In Progress, click New Revision.

  4. Under Edit, modify the revision. You can compare the new revision with the base draft under the Side By Side tab.

  5. Add a date to the new revision as described in step 2. Brightspot adds the second scheduled date to the Scheduled section in the Revisions widget.

Referring to the previous illustration, an item has two scheduled dates for future publication: one on June 20 at 5:00 AM, and another on June 22 at 8:00 AM.

Publishing a scheduled item immediately

You can change an item from scheduled publishing to immediate publishing.

  1. Search for and open the item in the content edit page.

  2. In the editorial toolbar, click |mi-calendar_today|. A calendar appears.

  3. Click Clear.

  4. Click Publish.

Brightspot publishes the item immediately.

Unscheduling a scheduled item
  1. Search for and open the item in the content edit page.

  2. In the editorial toolbar, click |mi-settings| to open the Tools menu.

  3. Click Unschedule.

The unscheduled item is removed from the Scheduled section of the Revisions widget.
