Configuring Sitemaps

Administrators perform this task.

If your version of Brightspot is missing any of the following configuration options, contact your Brightspot developer.

  1. From the Navigation menu, select Admin > Sites & Settings.

  2. In the Sites widget, click Global. The Edit Global widget appears.

  3. On the Debug tab, scroll to the “Default Task Host” option and set the name or the address of the host where the sitemap background tasks will run.

  4. Click Save.

  5. On the Front-End tab, scroll to the “Sitemap Settings” options.

  6. Click the sitemap types that you want to generate.

The Generate Sitemap option refers to the standard sitemap, which lists all of the web pages on a site for any content type. The standard and video sitemaps are generated once every twenty-four hours.

  7. If you enabled generation of the news sitemap, enter a cron expression.

A cron expression specifies the time interval for the sitemap background task to run. For example, this expression, 0 0 0/1 1/1 * ? *, will run the sitemap task every hour on every day. For assistance in building cron expressions, see Cron Maker.

  8. If necessary, set a sitemap default URL.

By default, this option is set to the default site URL set on the Main tab of the Global site, for example: Override the default value if your architecture requires a different sitemap URL.

  9. Click Save.

The server loads the applicable sitemap background task.
