Setting a Dashboard

You can set a dashboard on the global, site, role, or user level, or a combination of these system levels. If you set more than one dashboard, Brightspot builds a dashboard based on an order-of-precedence scheme.

At all system levels except site, you can select or create a shared dashboard, or you can create a one-off dashboard. Note that a shared dashboard is available for selection at any system level, regardless of the level it was created. For example, if you create a shared dashboard at the global level, a user — with the appropriate permissions — can select the dashboard as a user (personal) dashboard.

Global Level

  1. From the Navigation Menu, select Admin > Sites & Settings.

  2. Click CMS.

  3. Click the Dashboard tab.

At the global level, all dashboard configuration options are available.

Brightspot provides a system dashboard by default, which is what users get if they have no other dashboards set. You can modify the default settings for the Resources, Quick Start, and Bulk Upload widgets for the system dashboard, but you cannot modify the widget layout for the system dashboard.

Alternatively, you can select or create a shared dashboard, or you can create a one-off dashboard.

  1. Click Save.

Site Level

  1. From the Navigation Menu, select Admin > Sites & Settings.

The Sites & Settings widget appears on the left side of the page, from which you can create a new site or select an existing site.

  2. Click the Dashboard tab.

You can configure the Resources, Quick Start, and Bulk Upload widgets on the site dashboard. However, you cannot set the dashboard type (shared or one off) and the widget layout. Therefore, site users will get the type and layout of the dashboard at the highest level of precedence. For some site users, that might be a dashboard set on the role or user level. For other site users, it might be the global dashboard.

  3. Click Save.

Role Level

  1. From the Navigation Menu, select Admin > Users & Roles.

The Roles widget appears on the left side of the page, from which you can create a new role or select an existing role.

  2. Click the Dashboard tab.

You can select or create a shared dashboard, or you can create a one-off dashboard. You can also configure the Quick Start widget.

  3. Click Save.

User Level

  1. From the Navigation Menu, select Admin > Users & Roles. (Alternatively, go to the Profile page and select Dashboard.)

The Users widget appears on the left side of the page, from which you can create a new user or select an existing user.
