Contact forms

This feature requires the Express: Form plugin. If your Brightspot deployment is missing this feature, contact your Brightspot representative.

A contact form is a common vehicle for enabling visitors to leave contact information, often for a sales, consultant, or technical support representative to initiate further discussion with the visitor.

To create a contact form:

  1. Create or open the item to which you want to add a contact form.

  2. Toward the right of the widget, select more_horiz > Overrides. A widget appears.

  3. Expand Module Placement. Drop-down lists Above, Aside, and Below appear for the contact form’s position. (For an illustration of these positions, see the diagram Examples of module placement.)

  4. From one of the drop-down lists, select Replace. (For an explanation of the possible selections for module placement, see Module Placement.)

  5. Click add_circle_outline, and select Contact Form. A Contact form appears. Depending on your version of Brightspot, the form may already be populated with some fields.

  6. In the Title field, enter a title.

  7. In the Description field, enter a description for the form.

  8. From Items, design your form by clicking add_circle_outline and selecting one or more of the following fields:

  9. Under Actions, configure what Brightspot does with the submitted data; click add_circle_outline and select one or more of the following:

    • Data Collection Action—Saves the submitted data into an external file. An external application can read the file into a database.
    • Email Action—Sends an email containing the form’s data to a specified address, such as an email address for a sales representative. For details, see Email.
    • External Submit Action—Submits the form data to an Internet address. For details, see External submit.

Your form looks similar to the following:
